Cressing Primary Sports Premium Funding 2017-18

What is it?

The government has chosen to invest in Primary School Physical Education and School Sport for 2017-2018. They have done this by offering each primary school £8000 plus £5 per pupil to be spent in any way the school thinks best to improve the teaching and learning of PE and School Sport in their individual school. The total amount of money received for the Sports Premium is £13651

How are we using it at Cressing?

This money has been used to promote and develop sporting activities.

CPD has been a key element, with Sports Premium money being used to develop teachers’ understanding. A Sports Coach has provided demonstration lessons with each class on a weekly basis. This has improved teacher’s subject knowledge and has promoted physical activity, leading to multi-skills in the afternoons each week where pupils are arranged in houses and compete against each other.

In addition, we have increased the number and variety of sports available to pupils, which has developed pupil and staff understanding. These have included: sports camps during holidays - football, rugby, festival of sports camp and a dance Camp.

Festivals, including a multi skills festival in September and a three tees cricket tournament have all taken place.

We have introduced activities to raise awareness of those with disabilities, for example, jingle ball and sit down boccia.

Cressing Primary School Survey of Clubs 2016-2017 (Summer Term)

Total number of children surveyed was 133.

Number of children who went to some our clubs was 159.

Some of these children attended more than one club and this data shows that after school clubs are well-supported by pupils.

In the summer term, we hold a sports week where specialist coaches are invited into the school to teach pupils a range of sports and skills including: cricket, rugby, fencing, canoeing and futsal.
