Computing - Podcasts
A Podcast is a published sound recording found on websites. The word ‘Podcast’ derives from ‘ipod’ and ‘broadcast’. A podcast could be a posting of an MP3 file on a website or regular broadcasts which listeners can subscribe to and download to play back on their PC or MP3 Player. A true podcast is updated regularly with new ‘episodes.’ You can broadcast to the world without the need for specialist equipment or a licence by created and publishing a podcast.
In order to create a podcast you need to use software to record, import, edit sounds and apply effects. The software we are using is called audacity.

Audacity is an audio editor and recorder software that is used to record and edit sounds which is ideal for creating podcasts.
You can use Audacity to:
Record live audio.
Record computer playback.
Convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CDs.
Edit sound files.
Cut, copy, splice or mix sounds together.
Numerous effects including change the speed or pitch of a recording.
